At Inventure Academy, buildings and classrooms
are customised to suit the specific needs of different age groups.
The school also caters to the physically challenged.
Inventure Academy provides children the space to run and play. We have a 20 plus acre campus over which is spread a low-lying structure built into naturally lit, well-ventilated classroom clusters. Kindergarten, primary, middle and senior school are separated around their individual atria, which are open to sky and sunlight, making the entire space bright and cheerful, and effectively creating smaller separations of age-wise communities.
We have allowed the students to mark the walls with their stamp of ownership. Bright murals drawn by children adorn corridors and lobbies. Among the covered facilities are two amphitheatres and a performing arts room. The dining hall accommodates students in batches. Clean, wholesome breakfast and lunch is served everyday. A qualified nurse mans the health clinic at all times, with a doctor on call. These, along with resource room and learning lab make up the indoor facilities that are provided at present.
A graded obstacle course loops around the building perimeter. The grounds are equipped with tennis and basketball courts, cricket pitch, football and hockey ground. In due course, a swimming pool should also be added to the facilities. A nature trail and a child-safe water body are to be added to give the children a chance to explore and learn more about the environment, including the importance of protecting it.
There is nothing boxy or confining about our classrooms - the spaces are defined by the children's imagination. Model nests and real nests from a show-and-tell jostle for room with bric-a-brac from the nature walk. Drawing and poems are clothes-pegged on strings or pinned on walls. Each child has his/ her own cubbyhole to put away belongings. A child with a leg in plaster reclines on a makeshift bed and participates in the storytelling. Students have an informal or grouped seating arrangement that allows easy sharing of ideas. There is a student teacher ratio of 8:1 for the 2007-08 academic year, which is projected to be at no more than 15:1 as the school grows to full strength.. Each class has a personality that is a reflection of its teachers and students.
