Inventure Academy Inauguration and showcasing learning from the Inventure Academy Foundation Programme

July 14th will always be a very special day at Inventure Academy.

Torrential downpour
Guests wading through ankle deep mud

Hardly the stuff that augured well for parents on their first visit to the sprawling premises of Inventure Academy. But here's the twist. It was a day they and the children will forever remember as the day they crossed the proverbial threshold to Inventure Academy.

The morning began with the children presenting their findings and learnings, from the one month long Foundation Program to the parents. It was an interactive presentation with parents being invited to participate in the 'show and tell'. Grades 1 and 2 explored the micro system of a mound of sand - stones, miniscule insect life and a never ending capacity to absorb water. The same learnings were then transferred by to cultivate a patch of methi and rajma.

Grades 3 upwards tested their mettle by creating a pond. At first the boggy mud seemed to overwhelm most and they were ready to throw in the shovel! Some strong hearts, however, rallied flagging spirits and they persevered to excavate, cement and waterproof the pond. Two 'great-outdoorsy-types' took on the task of building a tree house and when the going got tough one tough was ready to get going - friendship and support prevailed and the tree house provided a good photo opp.

Not to be outdone by the show of muscle, the girls tested their creative agility and kinesthetic skills by creating a hammock.

By the afternoon, the contingent was set to visit the school site. Parents, children, faculty and the Board braved rain and squelching mud to assemble at the Primary School block. (Amazingly, not one spot of damp on their enthusiasm!) Everyone went around the beautifully designed classrooms and courtyards that were specially customized for different age groups. But the showstopper was the specially designed water jet fountain. And when Nooraine Fazal turned on the fountain and invited the kids to dive in, there was no holding back even the most timid ones!

Then Trustees Irfan Razack and Nafees Fazal welcomed students and parents to the Inventure Academy family and, in deference to the children's flagging energies, made short, but very gracious speeches. Finally, July 14 came to a close in a manner which was truly commemorative. We got each child, stake-holder, faculty and staff member to imprint their hand -print on a clay tile. These tiles will now be used to create a Promise Tree mural that will forever be a reminder of the faith reposed in Inventure Academy by its founding members.

As one parent told Nooraine Fazal, CEO 'If putting our child in your school took a bit of a leap of faith, seeing the changes it has made in our child in just this month makes us feel really good about ourselves."

A ten year old student, summed up the learning by stating, "As a result of our experiences, I know, that nothing in life is impossible, if you work towards it".
