Amidst much excitement and fanfare, Inventure Academy’s musical – drama ‘Beyond the Bubble’ (Directed by Arati Punwani Sunawala and Tarantismo), premiered at 10:30 am today at the MLR Convention Centre, Whitefield, to an enthusiastic, expectant and appreciative audience. The morning show was attended by school children while the evening show at 6:30 pm, was open to a general audience. The shows were extremely well-received, thanks to the engaging theme, compelling acting, fabulous music and exciting dances. The central idea for the script, all sets and props, musical arrangements (composition and lyrics), choreography and promotional materials were conceptualized, produced and implemented by the students.
The plot of ‘Beyond the Bubble’ centered on the surreal adventure of four young monks from the future as they endeavored to save the world from self-inflicted annihilation. They ventured through a journey exploring gender inequality, the impact of disasters around the world and the adverse effects of “progress” and advancing technology, while demonstrating selflessness, teamwork and inquisitiveness. The monks danced, sang, and fought cybernetic rabbits, while observing ‘our world’ and all its eccentricities. ‘Beyond the Bubble’ brought to the stage a unique depiction and representation of our world as we know it, and our world as it could be, years from now. Through this innovative platform, ‘Beyond the Bubble’ provided an opportunity for youngsters to advocate for a better future for themselves as custodians of the world they will inherit from us. The play succeeded in making the adults and others in the audience, journey beyond their individual bubbles and think about issues that they would normally shield themselves from during the normal pressures of a busy life.
Commenting on the show, Mr. Irfan Razack – CMD, Prestige Group and Chairman and Co- Founder, Inventure Academy said, “The immense creativity exhibited by the children was amazing. The theme is very relevant and befitting of our times. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the show.”
Inventure Academy Trustee, Ms. Nafees Fazal said, “It’s great to see Inventure Academy doing so well in foreseeing and working on social issues. I wish I could go back to school and study at Inventure to learn team spirit and leading from the front like the play portrayed.”
All proceeds from ‘Beyond the Bubble’ will go towards Inventure Academy’s ongoing lake revival project, ‘Our Lakes, Our Voice’ (OLOV). The funds will be used to create awareness through campaigns in and around Varthur on the deteriorating environmental situation, to revive a nearby dry lake bed that existed 20 years ago adjacent to the Inventure Academy campus and to conduct ‘Kere Habba’, a community lake festival.
“For students to put up such a professional play is an outstanding effort. It surpasses any school play I have ever seen”, said Mr. Ravichandar – Feedback Consulting
