Inventuring

The real change is to notice one child amongst many and to look at the world through her eyes.
Research in the past quarter of a century has reconfirmed that children have differing gifts and there is no’ one-way' to get the best out of them. There is a rich variance in how children learn, and how they relate to others around them. Inventuring The foundation programme at Inventure Academy is designed towards a better understanding of both.

The programme’s objective is to achieve the following outcomes:
1. ‘I CAN’. To make children aware of their innate potential and make them believe in themselves; challenge mindsets            and fears.
2. ‘LEARNING TO LEARN’ Understanding the ways in which true learning happens.
3. ‘CO-EXISTING’. Encouraging a respect and love for nature and the environment; understanding of an interdependent          school community; teamwork and group dynamics.

Inventure Academy’s Core Values and Core Purpose, Howard Gardener’s theory of Multiple Intelligences, the learning theory of Constructivism, Experiential Learning, form the bookends of Inventuring. It aims at learning to ‘be’- with Oneself, Others and with the Environment.

Through the multitude of projects and experiences the students are oriented into the culture of the school, many bonds are forged with peers and teachers and the school itself. There are M.I. based treasure hunts, hands on projects like building ponds, tree houses, a rain forest; there are night outs and camping activities, outdoor adventure activities, circle times for sharing of experiences and golden time for reflection and journal writing. Each of these experiences are designed to develop specific skills and attitudes in children. They form the foundation of their approach to life and learning in the years to come.

 inventuring 2006 - 2007
Our first Inventuring was conducted on a farm. The success of our first year ensured that the foundation programme became part of our tradition. Inventuring is now conducted on our sprawling campus. It is the way we begin each academic year. New students and faculty are welcomed into the fold as we build strong bonds of friendship and understand the way we learn. This paves way for the exciting year ahead.
