Conventional wisdom dictates that school and education are preparatory stepping-stones for real life. We have adopted a reasoned policy of enhancing our students’ formal learning with early exposure to the outside world that adds much to their life skills. The Wider World Programme is designed to help children navigate the multi-layered world of the 21st Century, and make them contributing citizens of a global community.
The Wider World Programme gives students an understanding of different working environments so they are equipped to make informed decisions about streams of study, electives, institutes of higher education, and eventually their careers. It also acquaints them with a sense of the plurality and diversity of opinions, perspectives, life choices, inequalities and knowledge that today’s world contains.
To further our endeavour, we partner with expert organizations in various sectors including community service (Grades 7,8) internships (Grades 9,11), guest lectures, field trips and excursions (K-12).
Field trips & excursions
These form an integral part of the total learning experience at Inventure Academy. Students visit local or outstation spots of academic or general relevance. The objective of such learning is educational, physical and recreational. Teachers (and sometimes parent-volunteers) always accompany such groups and take charge of the arrangements, safety and well being of the group as well as individual children. On trips, a sense of bonding is inevitable between peers, teachers and the other age groups, invaluable for developing inter-personal skills and the values of sharing, caring & collaborative effort. Follow up activities, as specified by the teacher, are crucial to closing the learning loop.
These are a wonderful chance for students to meet and learn from experts and achievers. Speakers in the past have included Zai Whittaker (naturalist, author of children’s books), cricketer Kapil Dev, (former Indian Cricket captain), Digivijay Singh (pro golfer), Rajeev Gowda (politician, IIMB Professor), MD Nalapat (Vice Chair, Geo Politics, Manipal & former editor of TOI), Mr Srikanth Nadamuni (Co-Founder & Managing Trustee of eGovernments Foundation) & Vinod Nambiar, (CEO, Position 2, the on-line marketing firm).
The Inventure Academy Wider World Internship Programme is a real-world career experience that focuses on a student’s area of interest, and furthers leadership, inter-personal, intra-personal and job skills. Placement sites include (but are not limited to) professional, educational, and cultural institutions; community service organizations; legal and medical offices; businesses; arts organizations; and professional performance groups. Each student’s experience is unique and they can develop their own personal goals.
The students of Grade 9 (ICSE & IGCSE ) and 11 (A/AS levels) are compulsorily required to pursue an internship. Students are not paid for internship coursework. However, they receive a recognition certificate once they successfully complete the programme.
