overview
We give our students space to grow. The Inventure Academy campus and infrastructure are designed to advance and support our students’ holistic well being and all-round evolution.
Spread over 20 acres, the campus comprises a series of naturally lit, airy classroom clusters or wings, each with its own bright, cheerful atrium open to the sun and sky. Indoor and outdoor spaces intersect and flow into each other, so that children can learn, draw, paint or invent in natural light. Children engage with the campus in many ways, including attempting the graded adventure course that loops around the buildings. Their artworks and poems light up the corridors, lobbies and walls, their imaginations enhancing the environment.
The children have private spaces – little cubby-holes or lockers to store belongings; and shared, informal spaces where they can exchange ideas, bringing to life the principle of collaborative learning. Each class has a personality that is a reflection of its students and teachers.
The flow room
Inventure Academy has a special space called the Flow Room. "The Flow Room is a space that draws children to the optimal holistic experience they feel when they act with total involvement...in the task at hand and gain a sense of pleasure, independent of the results." – Csikszentmihalyi, one of the first proponents of the Flow Theory.
This state of involvement – or Flow – is achieved in the Flow Room at Inventure Academy. Using games, instruments, equipment and books, children learn to be curious, focused, and attentive, achieving complete absorption and eventual success in their current activity. Open, active and project-based learning stimulates a sense of challenge and intrigue. Creative tasks provide for explorations and freedom to roam in the worlds of ideas and fantasy. The learning process itself, delinked from the outcome (ie results, marks etc), is the intrinsic motivation for the child. The child aims to create, to explain, to experiment, to apply and be fulfilled.
