“What children learn does not follow as an automatic result from what is taught.
Rather it is in large part due to the children’s own doing as a consequence of their activities and our resources.”
(Loris Malaguzzi)
Pre-School at Inventure Academy-
The Pre-School is hallmarked by the nature and quality
of the learning experiences that the children engage in and the
deeply caring and respectful ways in which the adults interact with
the children appreciating their unique abilities.
The learning experiences attract the children for their rich sensory
stimulation and the intriguing puzzles they have to offer. The children
approach these objects, themes and environments from many angles,
they ponder and question the phenomena that arise in due course of their
investigations.
Children and teachers continually reflect on the meaning of an activity,
and the issues it raises. The particular reactions of each child to that
experience become the bedrock, the driving force of the curriculum.
The way ahead emerges from their reactions to these results, problems
and puzzles. In doing so each child makes the experience her own and
constructs her own meaning and learning. Such a curriculum cannot be
mandated and in it’s quality of being emergent lies it’s power.
The curriculum invites children to explore in multiple ways the world
around them and furnish evocative material with which to capture their
engagement and learning.
