The build-up to the middle and senior school Tournament of Minds began way back on 20th January with three events: audio mixing (9th-12th grade) poetry writing (11th and 12th grade) and mad ads (6th-8th grades). Over the weeks, 13 competitions have already been held during the Beyond Academic periods and the scoreboard has filled up immensely.
The Adventurers are, by all accounts, dominating. They secured their first place in the early days of TOM and have been fighting fiercely ever since. House captain Duruvan Saravanan is a very proud captain at this stage. There seems to be consistent battle between the Inventors and the Venturers, as the multiple events taking place in one week allow for sudden changes in rankings overnight. As of 13th February, the Inventors have secured second place.
The Nurturers, following their last place finish on sports day, have been working hard in the sphere of beyond academics. They have done well in literary events like poetry writing and story writing, obtaining the second place in both. Overall, they must fight harder to get back into the race but knowing this house and its captain Dhrouv Pujari, it isn’t an impossible task!
After many exciting weeks of intense competition, the build-up to TOM comes to an end on 17th February with instrument solo (9th-12th grade), JAM (6th-8th grade) and sports commentary (6th-8th grade). As Beyond Academics Captain, I can’t even begin to express my delight at how events panned out. The past 2 months have been tiring and gruelling but Tournament of Minds on 21st February will be the biggest test of all: There are 8 events scheduled to take place, including photography and Battle of the Bands and it will definitely be a great end to an amazing beyond academics calendar this year! One question everyone is eagerly waiting to answer which house will emerge victorious?
