Wider World Programs
| Wider World Programs Inventure Academy has partnered with various groups and organisations to fully realise our educational approach and expose students to the wider world in various areas including community service (grades 7,8) internships (grades 9,11), guest lectures, “Bring Your Child to Work Day” , field trips and excursions (grades K1-12). School and education is a preparation for real life. With the view to reinforce students’ formal learning through exposure to the wider world we introduced the “Wider World Program” designed to teach students 21st century skills. The core objective behind each of the above activities is to provide students with exposure to different working environments so as to enable them to make informed decisions in vital areas like stream of study, electives, institutes of higher education, and eventually their careers. They may be planned locally, to places of academic or general relevance and information or outstation places for older students; day trips, overnight or several days. The objective of such learning is educational, physical and recreational. Teachers always accompany such groups and take change of arrangements, safety and well-being of the group as well as individuals. Sometimes, parents' volunteers are requested to accompany such groups. The added opportunity of close interaction between peers, teachers and the other age groups provides invaluable opportunities to develop inter-personal skills and the values of sharing, caring & collaborative effort. Follow up activities, as specified by the teacher are compulsory. Guest Lectures We also conduct various Guest Lectures on campus to give students an opportunity to interact and learn from people from various walks of life. Speakers in the past have included Zai Whittaker (naturalist, author of children’s books), cricketer Kapil Dev,(fomer Indian Cricket captain), Digivijay Singh (pro golfer) Rajeev Gowda (politician, IIMB Prof,), MD Nalapat (Vice Chair, Geo Politics, Manipal & former editor of TOI), Mr Srikanth Nadamuni (Co-Founder & Managing Trustee of eGovernments Foundation) & Vinod Nambiar, CEO, Position 2 (On-line marketing firm). Internship Program The Inventure Academy Wider World Internship Program is an experiential learning program that takes place “in the field.” It is a real-world career experience that focuses on a student’s area of interest. Placement sites include but are not limited to professional, educational, and cultural institutions; community service organizations; legal and medical offices; businesses; arts organizations; and professional performance groups. Each student’s experience is unique and students can develop their own personal goals. However, the goals of an Internship are for students to develop career interests, leadership, interpersonal and intrapersonal skills, and job skills. The students of Grade 9 (IGCSE & ICSE) and 11 (A/AS levels) are required to pursue an Internship. It forms a compulsory component of their curriculum. Students are not paid for Internship coursework. However, they will receive a recognition certificate upon successful completion of the program.
