Community outreach programme was incredeble fun! We went to a government school to teach kids of primary school. Each student was given a bunch of children to whom we had to teach. I was given a bunch of five crazy girls. At first we introduced ourselves and I figured that they did know English, but not much, because I don’t know Kannada at all. It was a bit hard trying to tell them what to do but I somehow managed. I spent about half an hour trying to figure out what to teach them, because honestly I didn’t want to teach them and instead have fun. So I decided to just ask them some normal things like body parts and colours, one of them kept asking me to play something and not teach anything. Eventually, we ended up playing. I am not sure what the names of the games were but all the games we played had something to do with running. But running wasn’t enough so these kids chose to climb on my back and go for a walk.
Our relationship was like sisters, even though we had just been introduced 2 hours back. At the end of the programme, I learnt that making them smile made me so glad that if I could stick those beautiful smiles on their faces, what else would I want? I loved the experience and I will never forget the memories I made with my five little sisters.
