Inventure Academy’s Wider World Programmes

Inventure Academy’s Wider World Programmes

At Inventure Academy, we recognise the importance of investing in our children’s futures. We endeavour to provide high quality education in a supportive environment and aim to equip our students with the tools necessary to succeed in the world.  Effective Career and College Guidance opportunities are important facets of any high school programme and we at Inventure Academy have been developing our strengths in these areas to better support our graduates.  We would like to share with you how Inventure Academy has been addressing this very important need.

College Guidance at Inventure Academy and the “Univariety” Programme

The process of college and course evaluation can be a stressful and confusing experience.  The stress and confusion is exacerbated by increasingly complicated admission processes, highly competitive entrance tests with sky-rocketing cut-offs and lack of clarity on which courses to pursue, given a particular student’s interests and strengths.  Understanding application procedures for colleges and universities abroad can also be somewhat daunting and may require sound guidance on home ground.

Inventure Academy has been working with ‘Univariety’ for the past two years to help address these issues.  Univariety specialises in the field of university access and higher education counselling across multiple destination countries. It is a part of the Singapore based ‘International Education Gateway’, which has operations in UK and India. The team of counsellors at Univariety has assisted a large number of students over the last 10+ years in making sound higher education choices. They have helped Inventure Academy children in successfully applying to colleges and universities within and outside India for the past couple of years.

The Univariety Programme is delivered through a series of workshops for 11th and 12th Grade children conducted in school, along with keeping track of and completing certain date – bound milestones in the college application process. The Univariety service is a combination of an online and offline system of supporting the entire university access / application process.

The current 10th grade students will create an online profile upon their return from summer holidays in June, 2013.  The 12th class students (current 11th grade students) have already created their profiles and are in the process contacting Univariety counsellors to clarify doubts.  This year, two of Inventure Academy’s faculty, including the Vice Principal, will be trained by Univariety to understand the processes involved in providing an effective in-house guidance system. Ramesh Hariharan, the Vice Principal at Inventure Academy, has had 28 years of experience in counseling 11th and 12th graders on careers / college guidance.  He has actively aided students to prepare their Statement of Purpose / College Entrance Essays, and for the TOEFL, IELTS and SAT (Verbal) exams in schools located in Japan, India and Malaysia.  Our hope is that in a year, the training received from Univariety, will equip the two appointed faculty members to take on the role of College Advisors, who can then be supported by Univariety online.

Inventure Academy provides this support to students as a part of our overall offering for senior school without an additional cost. To learn more about Univariety and the scope of their operations, please click on the following link:

Career Guidance at Inventure Academy and the “Pathfinder” Programme

Being a 10th Grader at Inventure Academy is both exciting and challenging.  While the 10th Grader revels in the fact that he / she will soon complete the important milestone of the ICSE or the IGCSE Board Exam and will enter the final two years of schooling, the student is also filled with the responsibility of making choices about the course of his / her future education and career options.  However, as the famous Chinese adage proclaims, “with every obstacle, comes a new opportunity.”

Inventure Academy, in conjunction with the” Pathfinder Programme from WorkWise”, has been providing career guidance testing for all 10th Graders, as well as new students in the 11th Grade for the past two years.  WorkWise is a career guidance and ‘worklife’ development firm based in New Delhi.  WorkWise, with over 30 years of experience in Psychology, Media, Management &Training and Career Guidance, was conceived by alumni of IIM, Ahmedabad and the Xavier School of Management (XLRI).  In the realm of Career Guidance, WorkWise works specifically with students in grades 10 -11, helping them choose careers that suit and excite them.

The Pathfinder Report has already been generated by WorkWise for our current 10 Graders and the new students in Grade 11. The Pathfinder Programme is provided by Inventure Academy as a part of our overall offering for senior school without an additional cost.

Internship Programme

The Inventure Academy Internship Programme (which started in 2006) is a two week – long, wider-world career experience that focuses on a student’s area of interest, and furthers leadership, inter-personal, intra-personal and job skills. Placement sites include (but are not limited to) professional, educational, and cultural institutions; community service organizations; legal and medical offices; businesses; arts organizations; and professional performance groups. Each student’s experience is unique and they can develop their own personal goals.

The students of Grade 11 (ISC and A/AS levels) are compulsorily required to pursue an internship. Students are not paid for internship coursework. They receive a recognition certificate once they successfully complete the programme. Placement in relevant organizations /companies is facilitated through Inventure Academy or contacts provided by parents.

We are confident that Inventure Academy graduates will be equipped to take on challenging higher studies options and future career opportunities, underpinned and empowered by our collaborative efforts as partners in the education of your child.
