Along with academics, athletics, and arts, community service is an integral and important part of student life. The Community Outreach Program is an initiative to inspire our students to be lifelong learners with a sense of responsibility towards communities that cohabit our world. The program is a small step to sensitize students about this that beyond the classrooms, stages and playing fields, Inventure Academy is a caring and conscientious neighbor in our neighborhood.
In this regard, Inventure Academy has started its community outreach program in association with Akshara Foundation.
Akshara foundation is a Bangalore-based Public Charitable Trust with a mission to ensure that every child is in school and learning well. Akshara Foundation has a network of libraries in schools and communities and aims to make every child in every government primary school a member of a library. The foundation is working on this reading program since 2005 and their work is truly inspiring.
The main objectives of the program are:
o Helping the children of Government schools to imbibe skills of English reading and writing.
o The purpose of building these skills is to help children learn the language which is very important for higher studies and accessing newer fields of knowledge.
o Sensitizing our students about their responsibility towards the community.
Initially the program started with two Government Schools which we worked with every Monday. This was done by the students of Grade VII A.
To further broaden the scope of the community outreach program, the school decided to work with five Government schools in the vicinity of Inventure Academy. These schools are:
– GKLPS BILLAPURA
– GKHPS TIGALACHOUDANA HALLI
– GULPS BELLANDUR
– GKLPS THUBARAHALLI
– GKHPS HANDENAHALLI
It was also decided to visit these schools on Saturdays to facilitate dedicated hours for the program. The Saturday program was then launched on January’2012. All the students of grade VI to XII & all faculty members of Inventure Academy are a part of this program.
The program includes:
– Reading program in English for the students of government schools
– Kannada learning for students & teachers of Inventure
– Sports activity (Indoor / Outdoor)
The members of the Inventure family visited these Government Schools as per their bus routes on Saturdays. The visiting groups were oriented every Friday to ensure effective execution of the program. The experiences of each group had been amazing and were shared with the other groups in order to understand the requirement of the Government Schools.
The energy level of our students, when they visited these schools and indulged themselves in these activities was truly praiseworthy. The enthusiasm and eagerness for learning shown by the students of the Government Schools was highly motivating.
It had been a fruitful effort by the entire Inventure Family to work within their community to make a difference in their lives of those less privileged.
